Our Main Floor Bathroom Refresh

Our Main Floor Bathroom Refresh

Today, I’m taking you behind the scenes of our main floor bathroom refresh. We would like to eventually remodel the whole thing, but for now, we did some quick and easy fixes on a budget!

Why I almost didn’t want to buy our house…

Do you know the main floor bathroom was actually almost a reason why I didn’t want to buy this house? In the listing pictures (swipe to see below) the bathroom was fully equipped with handicapped rails and a shower seat. The bedroom next door had a clothing rack with older women’s clothes. Not a big deal, BUT when we went to the open house shortly thereafter, all signs of an elderly person living there were mysteriously gone! I was convinced that someone had passed away in the house between the time the pictures were taken and the open house! I did not want to move in with a ghost!! As it turns out, the owner’s mother lived with them until they listed the house for sale and then moved her into an assisted living facility. Phew!

Quick and easy ways to refresh a bathroom on a budget!

  1. Repaint entire bathroom. We used White Dove by Benjamin Moore.
  2. Repainted vanity cabinets. We used
  3. Replaced vanity lights, mirror, towel rack, and toilet paper holder with simple, inexpensive finds from Lowes.
  4. Lemon watercolor artwork – Kate Hammer Studio
  5. Mini Boxwood Wreath – Target

Plans for the future…

My vision for this bathroom is to replace the floors with larger light grey hexagon tiles and the shower tile with light grey subway style tiles. A navy blue vanity with a carrera marble top and brass hardware will be the statement piece and focal point of the bathroom. Over that, I’d like to hang a large round brass mirror. Custom shower doors can be expensive, so I would maybe hang a shower curtain with a fun green banana leaf or palm print!

I hope you enjoyed our main floor bathroom refresh, and found the information helpful! As always, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out!

XO,

Kate
