When we purchased this home in the summer of 2019, I never thought that one of the bedrooms would someday become a little boy’s nursery. Thinking we were done having children, I donated just about all of our baby things as we were packing up to move here. Below, you’ll find a before picture of this room when we first bought the house. Fast forward to the summer of 2021, we found out we were pregnant again – and with a boy! A dream come true! Today, I’m thrilled to share with you Mack’s nursery reveal (on a budget)!
We decided to go with a whale theme for our boy’s nursery. We love the sea, and the beach is our happy place. A complete source list, links to shop, and before pictures are all below. You’ll see that we up-cycled a ton, and “shopped” our own home to fill in the gaps. I hope you enjoy!
Furniture
Crib:
Since Mae was still in a crib when we moved in, we thankfully still had it stored in the basement. I love that all three of my babies used this crib! Curious about the girl’s bedroom? Read the Girl’s Bedroom Reveal!
Dressers and mirror
We up-cycled this furniture from our primary bedroom. It was part of a set Ryan and I bought in 2010 when we first moved in together. With a baby on the way that needed furniture, we had a good excuse to upgrade our bedroom furniture. (I’ll do a primary bedroom post one of these days!)
Leather chair and ottoman
One of Ryan’s clients was moving out of their home and not taking the furniture with them. He scooped up this leather set, which I knew would be comfortable for late night nursing sessions. I love that Mack can continue to use it throughout the years as well. When he’s older, I envision him sitting here reading and/or playing video games.
Organizers
If you’re working with a small nursery, like we did in our first home, I highly recommend organizers that tie to the sides of the crib (for sleep sacks, diapers, etc.), hang over the door (towels, wash cloths), or over the dresser (creams, lotions, etc.)
